DBU Season Preview
My player to watch in 2023.
The Patriots season ended in heartbreak last year with a brutal sweep in the 2022 regionals. However they were some bright points at the end of the season with Jacob Meador, Chandler Arnold, and Ryan Wrobleski getting the call to the MLB in the 2022 draft.
This offseason DBU made the move from the Missouri Valley conference to the conference USA. This brings a new dynamic to the teams 2023 season. The conference USA has 10 teams including DBU.
DBU opens up their season at home against Fordham on Friday (2/17). DBU will start off the season non-ranked. Fordham finished their 2022 season with a record of 16-36. Obviously DBU will be the favorite to start off the season
Player to watch in 2023
Luke Heefner, SO., INF.
Luke finished his 2022 campaign being named Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American,Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year, and Second Team All-Missouri Valley Conference. That’s pretty impressive for the first year freshman. Luke hopefully can start right back where he left off and continue to be a star on the Pats. Heefner had a batting average of .294 last year playing in 58 games. Let’s see what he can do in 2023. Luke Heefner is my player to watch in the 2023 season.
